I’ve spent so much of my life fighting for space, speaking against the marginalization of trans women, and taking part in building communities for radical ideas about gender and being trans to be shared and flourish, and it has come at a great cost. My scars run deep, and my experience has shaped me in ways I’m not entirely happy with, ways that feel broken. Still, compared to the world in which I was a 7 year old (which was indeed quite brutal), to know I live in a world where this 7 year old can be this in touch with who they are feels like progress, and something to be glad about. There’s still a great deal of change to come, obviously, but you’ve got to bask in the small victories now and then.

This is beautiful; I can really identify with how you feel about the scars and the small victories, too.

I actually stopped by here because I used to follow your blog, and these days I also write one (that you might like) about being trans, mental illness, sex work, polyamory, radical politics and stuff like that. :) You seem really awesome and smart!

Yay for radical ways to think about being trans, and toward better futures!
